Answers to your questions about the Domaine des Montagnais in Val-Racine.

Check-in and check-out

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in: from 4 p.m. on the day your stay begins
Check-out: before 11 a.m. on the day your stay ends

What should we do before leaving?

Before you leave, we simply ask that you wash, dry and put away the dishes you used, then take out your garbage and drop it in the container located on Rang des Haricots, on the right as you leave the Domaine des Montagnais.

Booking and payment

How do I book a chalet?

You can book your accommodation directly on our website or by phone. It is also possible to book through platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com and Google.

Can we book for a single night?

Yes, it is possible to book for a single night on weekdays in some of our suites, rooms and some of our smaller chalets. For the other accommodations, a minimum of two nights is generally required. If your situation is particular, don’t hesitate to call us: we are always happy to see what can be done.

General

How do I access my accommodation upon arrival?

All our check-ins are self-service. The arrival instructions and the access code for your accommodation will be sent to you by email 48 hours before your stay.

Is there a pool on site?

Yes, an outdoor pool is available to all our visitors during the summer season. It is located at 204 chemin de la Forêt-Enchantée.

Where is the estate located?

The Domaine des Montagnais is located in Val-Racine, Quebec, about 30 minutes from Lac-Mégantic.

Mont-Mégantic is located about a 5-minute drive from the Domaine des Montagnais, making it an ideal starting point for enjoying the trails and the ASTROLab.

Activities and the region

Can we visit the Mont-Mégantic ASTROLab during our stay?

Yes! We recommend booking your visit or activity in advance, especially in high season. When staying at the Domaine des Montagnais, you also enjoy a 15% discount on ASTROLab activities.

Are there hiking trails nearby?

Yes, several hiking trails are accessible just minutes from the Domaine des Montagnais, notably at Mont-Mégantic and Mont Gosford. You will also find many other trails for all levels in the region.

Is it a good place for stargazing?

YES! The Domaine des Montagnais is located just minutes from Mont-Mégantic, in the heart of the world’s first International Dark Sky Reserve. Conditions there are ideal for admiring the stars and the Milky Way, especially on clear nights.

What activities are there to do with children?

The Lac-Mégantic region is bursting with family-friendly activities. We invite you to visit the Events and Activities section to see everything the region has to offer.

Here are a few suggestions and ideas for family activities:

Hiking :

Several trails are enjoyable with children.

  • Mont-Mégantic National Park - Franceville sector 
  • Promenade Boréale – Mont-Mégantic - 2.4 km round trip, about 45 minutes. Accessible to strollers with large wheels and recommended for families. 
  • Piopolis trails - Several hiking options with beautiful scenery around the lake.

Stars :

  • Mont-Mégantic ASTROLab - A truly interesting activity with children to discover the stars, planets and astronomy.
  • Stargazing at the estate - You are in the heart of the world’s first International Dark Sky Reserve. A simple activity that can become a highlight of your stay. 

Swimming and water activities:

  • Our beautiful heated pool, open until September.
  • Baie-des-Sables tourist resort - Swimming, water games, play structures, trails and water activities (kayaking, paddleboarding, pedal boats...)
  • OTJ Park in Lac-Mégantic - Public beach, play structures, water games, soccer field and volleyball court

Animals, farms and discoveries:

  • Ferme des Petits Torrieux - farm tours, sugar shack, pumpkin picking and gourmet feasts
  • Ferme Cheval Intègre - For children who love horses: equestrian activities and discovering the world of horses.

  • Ferme du Péché Mignon - An interesting outing to see animals and discover the farm’s products.
  • Refuge Fille des Bois - A non-profit organization taking in animals from the region that are in need, with a focus on rehabilitation in a natural environment

Cultural and educational activities:

  • Lac-Mégantic heritage train station - Exhibitions and an outdoor family rally in the form of a treasure hunt. 
  • Lac-Mégantic memorial walk - A stroll that lets you discover the town’s history and its reconstruction. 

What activities are there to do in winter?

In winter, enjoy snowshoeing and hiking at Mont-Mégantic National Park, cross-country skiing and tube sliding at Baie-des-Sables, dog sledding with Mohigan Aventures, the skating rink in the village of Val-Racine, winter astronomy at the ASTROLab, and an outing to the Ferme des Petits Torrieux to see the animals, go snowshoeing and enjoy a nice campfire with a hot drink.

The chalets/suites and amenities

Do some chalets have a hot tub?

Our chalet L’Enchanteur has a hot tub. It is currently the only accommodation on the estate to have one.

Can we have outdoor fires? Is firewood provided?

Yes, most of our chalets are equipped with an outdoor firepit. Check your accommodation’s listing to see if this amenity is included.

Yes, firewood for the outdoor firepits is provided free of charge to our visitors.

Are the chalets fully equipped? Is there a full kitchen?

Yes, all our accommodations are fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Most of our accommodations have a full kitchen. Some suites have a kitchenette instead.

Amenities may vary from one accommodation to another; check the listing of the one you are interested in for all the details.

Are towels and bed linens included?

Yes, bed linens and towels are included in all our accommodations. Only beach towels for the pool are not provided; remember to bring your own if you plan to enjoy it during the summer.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, Wi-Fi is included free of charge in all our accommodations.

Do the chalets have air conditioning?

No, our accommodations are not air-conditioned. Thanks to their natural setting and the generally cooler temperatures of the Mont-Mégantic region, air conditioning is rarely necessary.

Is there a BBQ?

Some of our chalets are equipped with a BBQ. Check your accommodation’s listing to see if this amenity is included.
